So here we are on a Sunday evening eating a burger and thinking about what to do this summer. Me and my friend we go way back and have been travelling to many places together so we couldn’t wait to plan another awesome trip together. With the two of us it is always easy; we check flights, we check destinations and then we just book the whole thing. That was no different this time. Except for another partner in crime we wanted to join us. Short summary of the evening: we found cheap flights from Dusseldorf Weeze to Palma Mallorca and texted our friend around 19:00 and at 21:00 the trip was booked. Yay! Mallorca is moreover known as a party island. In the south there is Palma de Mallorca and El Arenal, these were the spots we wanted to avoid. Not because we don’t love a party, but it was just not what we were looking for. We were looking forward to just chill and relax because the workinglife had exhausted the crap out of us these past few months. And besides I always like to take the road non-taken so if everyone goes south, Tabi goes north. So that’s where we were heading; north of the island to Port d’Alcúdia.
We set foot on Mallorca ground on Sunday afternoon and it was very easy to find the bus we needed to take to get to Port d’Alcúdia. For those who are interested: walk outside, cross the street and find bus number 352. It costs about €9 and its a one hour drive to the other side of the island. We got off the bus on the main road of Port d’Alcúdia and from here it was only a 10min walk to our hotel. I say hotel but what I mean to say is big ass luxurious resort that has anything you could possibly need. From a BK to a supermarket, to 8 swimmingpools and 2 bars; this place was INSANE. For those interested; Bellevue Club which is part of the bigger Blue Bay Resorts.
Playa del Alcúdia This vacation was going to be all about chilling, relaxing, eating, sleeping, beaching and beaching. On day one we decided to check the most nearby beach called Playa del Alcúdia. This was just unbelievably beautiful! The sand was white and the water was so so clear! We couldn’t believe what we saw. On this beach there’s plenty of beds you can rent and it is not even super busy. We had a great day chilling at the beach and swimming in the sea.

The next day we decided to check out Playa de Muro. From Port d’Alcúdia we took the local bus from the main road and drove about 5mins towards the area near Playa de Muro. When we got off the bus it was obvious that this area was very luxurious. The hotels here looked posh and beautiful. At this beach it was kinda hard to find beds to rent because almost all the beds we saw were reserved for the hotel guests. After walking around for about 10mins we found some beds that were not occupied and sat down for another beachday. Playa de Muro also has a white sanded beach and clear water and it is even part of Parc Natural de s’Albufera. Compared to Playa del Alcúdia, it looks more crowded because the beaches are less wide. Also the sea seems a little bit more wild over here but that could be different at any time. As we preferred Playa del Alcúdia we spent our third day here as well. But on our fourth day we went on a daytrip to Cap Formentor. It was all very easy to book this trip at No Frills Excursions, there are a few offices here and there so you cannot miss it. We boarded the boat at the Ciudad Blanca peer at Playa del Alcúdia. We found ourselves a spot a the deck where we soon realized how bloody hot this was. As soon as we left the Alcúdia Bay and entered the Formentor Bay, the captain made a pit stop and allowed us to jump off the boat and swim a little. Now that was refreshing! At the same time we were just enjoying the scenery. Everywhere around us were massive rocks and caves and the water we were swimming in was again crystal clear. Eventually we continued towards Playa Formentor where we were able to spend a few hours before heading back to Alcúdia. This beach was again very beautiful. It was not very big and it had a few trees which made it look different. This was a very nice daytrip, seeing all those cliffs and caves en also Playa Formentor.

On our last evening we took the bus to the oldtown of Alcúdia. This was sooooo beautiful! Here you can see some true authenticity. I just loved it! Alcúdia oldtown has some cute and narrow streets and the old architecture kinda reminded me of some places I’ve been in Croatia. Besides that there are some nice little shops where you can buy some really nice authentic souvenirs instead of the typical touristy ones.
Evenings in Port d'Alcúdia
Port d'Alcúdia doesn't have a wild nightlife which wasn't a big problem for us. We usually left the appartment around 20:00 for dinner somewhere in the area. There are plenty of options and most of them look pretty good. There is one club near the main road; the Bananaclub. This is a really nice place to go out. They have theme parties but also regular nights and the place just looks amazing with its rooftop bars. If you want to lounge and just chill over a few drinks check out Enjoy Café Lounge. Its a nice place with a nice vibe and good tasting cocktails; try the Alcudia Beach Cocktail ;)
Overall conclusion: Mallorca is definitely more than just a party island. Port d’Alcúdia is kind and friendly, but most all perfectly relaxing with its white sanded beach.
